Creatingisfun Challenge

I'm entering a challenge put forth by the amazing Martha from Creating is Fun.
Here's what I made using items from her Zibbet shop:

Fancy Gift Tags!

I started out with THESE plain tags, then covered them with  newsprint paper bags that came in my Grab Bag.
I added lace to each one {also from her shop} and then embellished each one with different things
from my personal collection, including seam binding ribbon for the bow.
The button on the red tag also came in my FAB $5 grab bag.

Here's a few more pictures!

I might add sentiments to each one when I know what I'm going to use them for!
Here's an example using one for pretty packaging
{Doilie & Newsprint bag also from Zibbet shop}

TODAY'S SKETCH IS #9

Here's my card for Day 1:

I used CTMH paper in Lagoon, and hand-stamped the floral background using a stamp from "Card Word Puzzle", also by CTMH. The flower is Recollections and the lace I got at a local craft store. The frames were cut out with my Cricut using the Fancy Frames cartridge. Last but not least, the sentiment is from a Fiskars cling stamp set.

A card for my Grandma

Today is a sad day for me. My Grandpa passed away from a heart attack yesterday. It was a shock for everyone in my family because he wasn't sick or anything. We are going to visit my Grandma today so I decided to make a not-traditional sympathy card for her. I wanted to make it as beautiful as she is.

Here's the sketch I used from Tsunami Rose Desgins

What I used:
  • Lace from Martha's shop {Click here to visit her shop on Zibbet}
  • Recollections flowers & pearls
  • Rose paper-Victoria Garden by Echo Park
  • Pink cardstock
  • Sentiment- made on my computer
  • Lace doily-Wilton

Doily Fever

I am obsessed with doilies. I just think they are so cute & they go well with everything! I've only ever used white doilies, but I really wanted doilies in every color. I looked on Etsy and saw that people dyed white paper doilies to make them any and EVERY color! I had to try it for myself. I originally got this tutorial from a blog called Charlotte's Fancy. You can find the original post here.

Supplies: Rubber gloves ( a MUST!), Food Coloring (I already had some cheap stuff from the grocery store),  Pyrex bowl or any other small bowl, LOTS of paper towels...

And DOILIES of course. I got mine from Joann's. These are Wilton 4" ones found in the cake decorating section.

Fill the bowl with enough water to cover the entire doily. Add food coloring. You can adjust the amount of food coloring as needed to get the color you want. {It does take a LOT of dye to get a bright color}

Leave the doily in the water for about 20 seconds. Carefully remove from the water and put the doily on a paper towel.

Blot the doily with a paper towel to get the excess water out. This step is very important if you want to have wrinkle-free doilies!

After you let them dry, this is the result! Beautiful, pretty doilies, perfect for Easter.
Now keep in mind, that was my first try at coloring doilies. I might get a little more creative next time and mix colors together. I like the doilies that I saw in the original tutorial, they are all lace without that big circle midsection. I think I might order some of those to use for next time. {I believe she has a link in her post to the online store that has them.}

My want list

Peachy Keen Stamps "Simple Sallies"
Cricut Create A Critter Cartridge

More My Mind's Eye paper pads

"Hello Doily" stamp from Stampin' Up (I wish CTMH would create something similar so I'm not "cheating")

Unity stamps!

Prima Flowers {photo courtesy of BlueMoon Scrapbooking}

Will I ever be satisfied? Maybe, if I stop looking at other peoples amazing projects!!

DREAM

My card for the day

Here's the sketch I used from Tsunami Rose Designs

My supply list:
  • Distress inks from Tim Holtz (Vintage Photo & Victorian Velvet)
  • My Mind's Eye Lost & Found Two "Blush"
  • Paper Adventure "Ivory Floral" from Joann's
  • Ribbon trim & flower are from a grab bag from Creating is Fun {You can buy the grab bag HERE}
  • Sentiment from Joann's ($1 stamp!!)
  • Jewel embellishment- Jolee's Boutique
  • Pink Pearls- Recollections
I also added stickles to the pennant & the leaves on the flower just to give it a little sparkle.
I think tomorrow I might try to make a tag or other project instead of a card, I want to try something different. :)

Another fabulous card

Hello! :)
Using Tsunami Rose Designs Sketch #19...

I made this!

To make this card, I used more Lost & Found Two "Blush" paper from My Mind's Eye and also paper from La Creme matstack by DCWV.
For the embellishments, Recollections.
The BEAUTIFUL red lace is from Martha's shop, Creating is Fun.
She has awesome lace & buttons for fabulous prices.
I just ordered tons of lace from her & can't wait to get it.!
{Correction: I actually got this lace somewhere else, but Martha's lace is way better!
I just have too much lace and I got confused. He he ;)}

Please check out Daisy's facebook page {Click HERE.} if you haven't already!
She designs some AWESOME blog badges & banners in addition to making sketches.
(Mine is in the works right now!)

You can also join the FB group to share your cards using her sketches HERE.

Until tomorrow friends...
